New Government Drug Experiments on Veterans

Shades of the past. A report today in the Washington Examiner reveals that US government researchers are injecting "drug-addicted veterans" with cocaine.

Can anyone say MK-ULTRA?

The DEA has granted more than 6,000 licenses to scientists to use illegal drugs over the last 25 years in experiments done through the Veteran's Administration. Millions in taxpayer dollars have been spent to give addicts drugs like crack, morphine and IV cocaine.

According to the VA's acting director of R&D, Timothy O'Leary (no irony intended there, I'm sure), the program is an attempt to find medicines that will block cocaine absorption in the body.
